The primary purpose of the assessing process is to ensure that all property within the Town of Northwood is assessed fairly and in accordance with the New Hampshire laws governing taxation. Toward that end, the Town conducts various practices to ensure an equitable distribution of the tax.
The Board of Selectmen, per NH statute, serve as the Town's assessors, and the Board contracts with Cross Country Appraisal Group, LLC to perform its assessing duties. The Town of Northwood is charged by State law with discovering, describing, and valuing real property for taxation purposes.
