The Recreation Commission was established in 1995. The purpose of the Commission is to support the establishment and management of the Recreation Department. Support may be accomplished through the acquisition of land and/or facilities for a public recreation and park area and may prepare, equip, and maintain the land and/or facilities for recreational purposes. The Commission also assists in establishing reasonable fees; and conducts and promotes leisure-time activities to the community.
The Commission consists of 7 members who are appointed by the Board of Selectmen and are committed to serving a 3 year term. The Commission meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month, 6:30 PM at the Northwood Town Hall. All meetings are open to the public.
