Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer/Health Officer - Part-time

The Town of Northwood, NH is accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer/Health Officer. This is a part-time position working approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. Salary range is $17.93 - $27.12 per hour, DOQ.

Under the general supervision of the Town Administrator, the Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for issuing building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permits. Performing inspections for the enforcement of ICC codes, federal, state, and town laws, rules, codes and regulations relating to building construction, inspection and code compliance. Plan review for all commercial, industrial and residential building. Preparation and administration of department budget. Supervision of department clerk. As Health Officer under RSA 128, the position is given broad authority to regulate in the areas of public health by the Board of Selectmen.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and at least 5 years of experience in a similar position. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.  In addition, the successful candidate should possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively with other town departments, town and state officials, and the general public. Candidates must communicate well, possess the ability to plan and maintain an organized schedule and keep accurate records. A valid driver license also required.

Municipal Secretary - Part-time

The Town of Northwood is accepting applications for the Municipal Secretary position. This is a part-time Monday through Friday position approximating 27 ½ hours per week. The pay range for this position is $11.01 - $16.65 per hour.

The Municipal Secretary performs secretarial tasks for the administration office including: answering telephones, taking messages, updating meeting calendars, posting town notices within time constraints prescribed by law, website updates, mail distribution, office supply orders, filing; general office reception and customer assistance with the various request including permits, assessing information; transcription of minutes for the Board of Selectmen and Budget Committee; assists the Town Administrator and other duties as necessary.

Applicants should have excellent customer service and multitasking skills, office experience with proficiency in Microsoft office, skill using general office equipment. Prior municipal experience and minutes transcription is preferred.

Transfer Station Attendant - Part-time

The Town of Northwood, NH is accepting applications for the position of Transfer Station Attendant. This is a part-time position working approximately 12 hours per week. Salary range is $9.99 - $15.10 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Under the general supervision of the Transfer Station Supervisor, the Transfer Station Attendant is responsible for monitoring and organizing trash and recycling collection areas, monitoring burn pit for adherence to State regulations, manual labor associated with transfer station activities and upkeep, payment processing.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, current State of NH Solid Waste Facility Operator Certificate is preferred. Good customer service skills and the ability to work well with other departments and town officials, basic computer skills, ability to lift and carry heavy items.
