The Budget Committee meets every year to recommend and review the Town, School and Water District budgets. The committee members are elected and operate under RSA 32 Municipal Budget Law. The Committee is composed of 16 members, which includes ex-officio members from the Board of Selectmen, School Board, Northwood Cove Village District, and Water District.
The Northwood Cable Advisory Committee was created to assist the Board of Selectmen with Cable TV related issues and to develop strategies to set up public access broadcasting for the citizens. Funding for NCAC activites and equipment comes from cable subscriber franchise fees, not from taxes.
The Board of Cemetery Trustees is an elected, three person board responsible for the operation, maintenance and regulation of the Town’s cemeteries.
The Northwood Conservation Commission was established by the Town's voters in 1971. Per NH RSA 36-A:2, the purpose of the Commission is to ensure "the proper utilization and protection of the natural resources and...the protection of watershed resources...of the town."
The Facilities Committee is charged by the Board of Selectmen with presenting its recommendations for Town facilities repairs, etc. for the annual budget of the Town each year.
The Highway Advisory Committee was re-established at the 1980 Town Meeting. The role of the Committee is to outline highway maintenance and replacement recommendations for three years in advance, said recommendations to include plans and procedures to be adopted to protect and to enhance the natural beauty of the highways to be thus worked upon, or take any other action relative thereto. The Committee meets with the Board of Selectmen each November and presents its recommendations to them.
The Planning Board meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM at the Town Hall. The public is welcome.
The Northwood Police Commission was created by ballot vote at the March, 1986 Town Meeting, following a recommendation of the Police Advisory Committee. Police Commissioners are elected to a three year term, with one term expiring each March.
The Commission meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 5:00 PM at the Northwood Town Hall. The Commission’s agenda includes time for public input, the review of the general business of the Police Department, the Police Chief’s report, budget review and correspondence. The Chief’s report includes a summary of calls for service, arrests, motor vehicle accidents and summons issued during the previous month. All meetings are open to the public to attend.
The Public Safety Complex Committee is charged with conducting a study and making recommendations for a public safety complex. The Board of Selectmen appointed 11 members from various departments, committees and citizens to serve on this committee.
Our vision is to make the Transfer Station self-sustaining. Our mission is to make recommendations to the Board of Selectman to further improve waste management in Northwood through recycling and other processes. The Recycling/Transfer Station page is here .
The Northwood Technology Committee is an advisory committee created by the Board of Selectmen in June of 2007. The committee seeks to explore and promote the efficient and productive use of technology for the continuity of the government of the Town of Northwood.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 PM at the Town Hall. The public is welcome.
