Minutes of January 5, 2011
Margaret Walker, Selectman Scott Bryer, Lucy Edwards and Chair Ken Curley were in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm. The minutes of the August meeting were approved unanimously. The old compost pile has been removed. The transfer station is accepting compost again, and it is now being placed in rows. Scott Bryer will bring up a suggestion at the next board of selectmen meeting that the highway department come in weekly with the back hoe and turn the piles. There is a list of accepted compost materials available. The new cash register is not yet programmed, but the transfer station staff are using it to give receipts. The register needs to be set up to track different categories of recyclables. Steve Preston and the committee are still trying to push Lamprey Coop to give us accurate numbers on tonnage for each pull of the wet garbage, so that we can track our volume and costs. Margaret Walker suggested that the committee have a table at town meeting this year. She agreed to gather the materials to provide information on composting, including forms to order backyard composters. We will also have maps and brochures. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2nd, at 7 pm at the town hall. Ken Curley will look into using the Community Center for our meetings starting in March. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm. Respectfully submitted, Lucy Edwards, Secretary
