Ordinance No. 10-01 Northwood Agricultural Committee
Section 1. Authority and Purpose The Board of Selectmen adopts this Ordinance to create the Northwood Agricultural Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to provide the proper recognition, promotion, enhancement, encouragement, use, management and protection of agriculture and agricultural resources that are valued for their economic, aesthetic, cultural, historic or community significance within their natural, built, or cultural contexts. Section 2. Definitions Agriculture - Includes the entirety of RSA 21:34-a, which is the definition of farm, agriculture and farming. Section 3. Duties The Agricultural Committee shall advise the Board of Selectmen and perform the following duties: A. Survey and inventory all agricultural resources B. Conduct activities to recognize, promote, enhance and encourage agriculture, agricultural resources and agriculture-based economic opportunities C. Assist the Planning Board, as requested, in the development and review of those sections of the Master Plan which address agricultural resources. D. Review the Northwood Development Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and Site Plan Review Regulations which address agricultural resources and activities. E. Advise, upon request, local agencies and other local boards in their review of requests on matters affecting or potentially affecting agricultural resources and activities. F. Coordinate activities with appropriate service organizations and nonprofit groups G. Publicize and report activities H. Hold meetings and hearings as necessary to carry out its purposes
The Northwood Agricultural Committee shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Members must be a resident of the Town of Northwood. Initially, the five (5) members of the Committee shall have staggered terms of appointment as follows: two (2) members appointed for a three year term, two (2) members appointed for a two year term and one (1) member appointed for a one year term. Subsequent appointments shall be for three year terms. Members shall be sworn into office by the Town Clerk under the same oath of office administered for other town appointed positions. Annual appointments shall be made in March of each year following the Annual Town Meeting.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
