Cable Coordinator Report–

In Process – Gary said he was unable to record last week’s Board of Selectmen meeting due to sickness.  His sickness and the failure of his DVD recorder has caused a delay in the finishing of the Annual School District meeting and the Town Meeting. He went on to state that the Town’s DVD recorder had broken down last year and he has been using his personal recorder to produce the meeting DVDs.

Ken Curley made a motion that the committee make a recommendation to the Selectmen to purchase a DVD recorder to replace the recorder which broke last year. Seconded by Ken Camille, motion past unanimously.

Ken Curley made a motion that the committee make a recommendation to the Selectmen to pay to have Gary Garnett’s DVD recorder repaired, since it failed while creating DVDs for the Town. Seconded by Ken Camille, motion past unanimously.

New Equipment – Gary Garnett handed out an equipment list with pricing to the members of the committee.  He pointed out that the highest priced item on the list was the Panasonic HD camcorder ($24,999.95). The committee discussed the prospect of using high definition video for public access television.  After a lengthy discussion it was decided that there is no current need for a HD camcorder. The committee will review the other items on the list and discuss them at the next meeting.

The need for additional microphones and a mixer for recording the Planning Board meetings was discussed.  Ken Curley made a motion that the committee make a recommendation to the Selectmen to purchase the mixer and microphones which Gary has specified.  Seconded by Peter Blinn, motion passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS   -

Northwood Community Television – The committee discussed what it will take to get this volunteer organization up and running.
1. Video Equipment Use Policy – Ken Curley handed out draft copies of the Statement of Compliance and Equipment Request forms which are part of the Video Equipment Use Policy.  After discussion final edits were made. Ken Curley said the Town Administrator has placed the Cable Advisory committee on the agenda for the May 25th Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss the Video Equipment Use Policy.

2. Workshops – Peter Blinn requested that the video workshops also include training on the production system at Town Hall. Once trained the volunteers can assist in producing shows so they can be aired in a timely manner.

3. Volunteers – Peter Blinn said NCTV would keep a form on each volunteer listing their qualifications and certifications. With the volunteer’s consent he would provide that information to other PEG stations so they can be utilized on regional shows.

4. Sports Events - Peter Blinn said he will contact the Director of Athletics at Coe Brown Northwood Academy to see if he would want some of the sports events covered this coming fall.  The committee discussed in detail the different types of audio/video equipment that may be required to cover an indoor sports event.
