Minutes of September 2, 2008
Present were members Lucy Edwards, Pat Adams and Donna Bunker. Cable coordinator Gary Garnett was present. Meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairperson Lucy Edwards. The minutes of the 8/05/08 meeting were approved as corrected. Since Ken Curley was not present the order of business skipped to the Coordinator’s report. Cable Coordinator Report School System – Gary Garnett requested that two external drives be purchased using the fund from the Cable Franchise Expendable trust fund. While recording the August 11th School Board meeting the production system computer froze up. The freeze up was caused by the hard drive not having enough space to store over 4 hours of video. To recover Gary had to reformat the partition which erased all video files. One of the proposed external hard drives will be used to off load any video on the system before a meeting is recorded. The other would be to use as backup for his laptop to eliminate the same situation during editing. The Committee agreed to advise the Selectmen to expend the funds for the two external hard drives. Mr. Curley arrived at 6:10pm. Installation of Equipment (Town Hall) – The cabinet for the system needs special hinges which should be installed within this month. Mr. Garnett said there is no outlet near one of the wall mounted cameras which requires power. He suggested an extension cord could be run from the Finance Office. Mr. Curley proposed having an electrician wire an outlet so that it would be permanent. The Committee agreed to advise the Selectmen to hire an electrician mount an outlet near the camera on the East wall of the Town Hall, paying for it with funds from the Cable Franchise Expendable Trust. Volunteers – Mr. Garnett informed the committee that Renee Camille has volunteered to assist with videotaping events. Video Workshop – No one signed up for the video workshop scheduled for August 16th. Donna Bunker said she thought that scheduling it for a weeknight might get a better response. LRPA – Mr. Curley said he attended the August 11th meeting. Personnel and budget issues were discussed. Board of Selectmen Liaison Report – Ken Curley said no issues regarding Northwood cable subscribers came before the Board of Selectmen. He was questioned when the system will be operational by the other Board members. Upcoming Events to tape - Donna Bunker stated that she was unable you get consent to videotape from Mr. Phil and Company when they performed at the Summer Reading Program Finale Ms. Bunker announced that local bluegrass band Cordwood and author Becky Rule will be holding a Library Benefit at the Masonic Hall on November 8th. This would be a good event to tape. She will try to get consent. Other: Cable Contract Renewal – Ken Curley said he got a copy of the contract from the Town Administrator but it also was unsigned. He may have to contact Metrocast to get a signed copy. The next scheduled meeting is on Tuesday October 7th at 6 pm at the Town Hall. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM. No quorum - October 7, 2009, resheduled for January 6, 2009 Minutes approved January 6, 2009 |
