Minutes of March 4, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 6:06 p.m. at Town Hall by Chairperson Edwards.
Present were members Donna Bunker and Pat Adams, Chair Lucy Edwards, Selectmen liaison Ken Curley and Coordinator Gary Garnett. Pete Jones could not attend. The committee approved the 02/05/08 minutes. Reports Lakes Region Public Access Rep. - Mr. Curley said he attended the Board of Directors Feb. 27th meeting where they discussed a grant application and equipment loaning procedures. BOS Liaison Report – Business Card: The Town Administrator presented to the Selectmen that some people were concerned that the unique design of the Cable Coordinator’s business card coupled with the home email address and telephone number gave the appearance that it was a commercial business card. Commercial business cards cannot be distributed at Town Hall. The Board instructed the Town Administrator to get a Town Hall email address and telephone extension for the Cable Coordinator to replace the ones currently on the card. 2007 Expenditures: Town Administrator Paul Martel said he has a list of all 2007 trust fund expenditures which was provided by the Finance Director. He will compile a list of all Cable Franchise Expendable Trust Fund expenditures for 2007 and get it to us before Town Meeting. Cable Coordinator Report: School Board Taping Missed Meeting Mr. Garnett said he missed one meeting and was late to another because the School Board changed the date & time of the meeting and did not inform him. At Monday’s School Board meeting the Superintendent said he will place Mr. Garnett address on the email distribution list so that he will be current with all meeting change notices. Wide Angle resolution Mr. Garnett said he has not purchased the s-video cables but was going to see if mounting the cameras forward 1 foot would solve the resolution problem. Training Mr. Curley asked if the system was at a point where someone at the school could be trained to run it. Mr. Garnett said it was and that he thinks the tech person would be the best candidate to be trained. Mr. Curley said to contact the Superintendent to see who will be responsible for running the system when he is not available to tape a meeting. Installation of Equipment (Town Hall) Mr. Garnett reported that the equipment cabinet is almost finished and may be installed within the coming week.
Library DVD Cases Ms. Bunker gave Mr. Garnett a print out describing the type of DVD case she had previously purchased for the Library. Mr. Garnett said he would see if Staples had an equivalent DVD case because it would be quicker to procure and less expensive due to the shipping charges. If they did not have an equivalent he would order them from the same company. Pat Adams arrived at 6:30pm. New Business Upcoming events to tape: Candidates Night - March 5th 7pm. Coe Brown Northwood Academy School District Meeting - March 8th 9am. Northwood School Town Meeting - March 15th 9am Coe Brown Northwood Academy Video Editing Workshop Ms. Edwards said putting on a video editing workshop at the annual Summer fest would be a good way to get people involved in providing tapes of local events. Ms. Bunker suggest that a small tutorial be provided at the Summer fest and a complete workshop can be provided at the Library if there was enough interest. Mr. Garnett said he would contact the Recreation director about the Summer fest schedule. Sporting Event Mr. Curley said that at least one CBNA basketball game or other sporting event should be taped and aired to find out if there is any interest by cable viewers in local sporting events. Term Expiration Ms. Adams said that her term on the committee expires on March 31st and she has not received anything from the Town about her reappointment. Mr. Curley stated that he will talk to the Town Administrator about presenting a request for reappointment at the next Selectmen meeting. The next meeting is scheduled to be held at Town Hall on Tuesday, April 1st, at 6 pm. The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m. Minutes approved April 1, 2008. |
