Minutes of April 1, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall by Chairperson Edwards.

Present were members Donna Bunker, Chair Lucy Edwards, Selectmen liaison Ken Curley and Coordinator Gary Garnett. Pete Jones and Pat Adams could not attend.

The committee approved the 03/04/08 minutes.

Reports

Lakes Region Public Access Rep.

Mr. Curley said he could not attend the March Board of Directors meeting because it was scheduled the same night as the BOS meeting.  He said that he noticed the program schedule for channel 26 is being updated on a regular basis on the website www.lrpa.org

BOS Liaison Report

Town Meeting

Mr. Curley stated the voters approved transferring the subscriber fees into the Cable Expendable Trust Fund at Town Meeting. The amount was $28,000.  He went on to say the feedback from comments at Town Meeting showed there was interest in airing recreation committee events. This should be our focus after the system is installed at Town Hall.

Appointments

Mr. Curley said the BOS approved the reappointment of Pat Adams at their last meeting.

Cable Coordinator Report

School Board Taping

Budget Input Meeting
Mr. Garnett said the School Board held a special budget meeting on March 25th which was the same night as the BOS meeting. He set up the camera at Town Hall and had the Town Administrator turn it on for the meeting while he taped the School board meeting. Due to the length of the tape the whole BOS meeting wasn’t captured.

Wide Angle resolution
Mr. Garnett said he could not refit the school system with s-video cables since it would require reworking the back panel of the equipment rack. Instead is going to remount the cameras a1 foot closer which should solve the resolution problem.

Training
Mr. Garnett said that cross-training has started with the tech person at the school before the March 25th meeting and will continue as his schedule allows.

Installation of Equipment (Town Hall)
Mr. Garnett reported that he had to move equipment cabinet to his neighbors to get enough work space to work on it. It is near completion.

Library DVD Cases
Mr. Garnett said he will be going to Staples to pick up DVD cases for the Library.
They would be quicker to procure and less expensive due to the shipping charges. If they did not have an equivalent he would order them from the same company.

Old Business

Video Editing Workshop
Ms. Bunker said the Library is co-sponsoring with the Recreation Committee a Video Production Seminar instructed by Gary Garnett on May 14th from 6 – 8 pm.

Summer fest
Ms. Bunker said she was informed that the Recreation Committee will not be holding a Summer fest this year due to limited resources.

New Business

CBNA
Mr. Garnett said is going to contact Mr. Bradley Jarvis who runs the Young Film Makers Club at the school, to recruit students to tape local events.

Farmers Market
Chairman Edwards said she was organizing a Farmers Market and is in the process of finding a location. Once it is up and running, airing a local events show featuring the market would be a good way of attracting interest from the surrounding communities.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held at Town Hall on Tuesday, May 6th, at 6 pm.

The meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.

Minutes approved May 6, 2008.
