Plastic & Tin recycling starts MONDAY, MAY 5. What's in it for us? Taking plastic out of the compacted trash saves the Town money. Recycling plastic keeps it out of a landfill - an environmental plus. It's called co-mingled recycling, just follow the guidelines. Look for the new bin and if you have questions talk with Stephen Preston. Start now and be ready for MONDAY, MAY 5. All you have to do is throw away the caps and rinse your #1 and #2 plastic bottles, you can squish them if you wish. Make sure you clean your tin cans.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: #1 PETE Plastic Bottles* (i.e. soda bottles) #2 PETE Plastic Bottles* (i.e. milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles) CLEAN Tin (Clean Food/Pet food cans) *NOTE* Bottles with necks smaller than bases. No caps! No tubs! UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Any plastic other than #1 & #2, Lids, Caps, Tubs, Plastic Bags, Plastic Utensils Containers that previously had hazardous or toxic chemicals (i.e. motor oil/antifreeze bottles) Tin that has not been rinsed clean |
