Minutes of June 7, 2007
Present were members Pat Adams, Donna Bunker, Chair Lucy Edwards, BOS Liaison Ken Curley and Coordinator Gary Garnett. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. at Town Hall by Chairperson Edwards. The committee decided to postpone approval of the May 7, 2007 minutes until everyone had a chance to review them. REPORTS: LRPA - Northwood’s representative on the Lakes Region Public Access Board of Directors Mr. Curley talked about a LRPA proposal to require each town to sign a contract which specifies the fee based on subscriber calculated relative to the percentage cable fee. BOS Liaison Report – Mr. Curley discussed the directive approved by the BOS to discontinue using the DVD/tape recordings for compiling the meeting minutes. He stated that liability issues could arise from providing the public with unedited versions of the meeting. The public will still have access to copies of the same DVDs that are sent to LRPA for airing. Cable Coordinator Report – Mr. Garnett gave a status on the School system and said that the installation may be delayed because portions of the School building will be closed during the summer. The School Board announced they will be holding their meetings at the SAU 44 building while work to the school is being performed. Concerning the Northwood Historic Tape Mr. Garnett said he has not had a chance to schedule more shoots with Joanne Bailey because of the rains. He ended by stating that he did finish producing the Garden Tour Tape and it will be sent to LRPA next week. OLD BUSINESS: Bulletin Board Policy Differing versions of the Bulletin Board policy were discussed along with system requirements to make the bulletin board more “viewer” friendly. It was agreed to review the suggestions and discuss it at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Date Display Ms. Bunker said she was asked if when a meeting is shown on cable that the date of the meeting be displayed at the bottom of the screen so that viewers would know which meeting they were watching. Mr. Curley said that there may be a way of configuring the camera to display it while the meeting was being tapes. Mr. Garnett said there may be a way of adding it during the editing process. He said he will look into it and report at the next meeting. Priorities It was agreed that taping and airing of the School Board meetings is the top priority. The next meeting will be held at Town Hall on Thursday, August 2nd, at 7 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. Minutes approved August 2, 2007. |
