You are cordially invited to Norhtwood's First Annual Edible Book Festival! The Chesley Memorial Library is sponsoring this free festival on Saturday, March 31, from 10:00 - 1:00, at the Northwood Masonic Hall. Just what is an Edible Book Festival? Read on to find out!
What is an Edible Book Festival? On the first of April each year cities around the world participate in the International Edible Book Festival. Festivals are held in many countries including Brazil, Germany, Japan, and Russia. Entries are displayed in edible form, often using wit such as 20,000 Leeks Under the Sea, Spamlet, Don Quicheote, Booklava, and Frank and Stein. Edible books may include anything from a scene or character from a book, book covers, or book structures. As long as the entry is made from food items, there is no limit! Register today! All registrations must be received by March 26. Space is limited and will be allotted on a "first come, first serve basis." To register, please stop by the library and pick up a registration form. Awards Our Edible Book Festival will feature three categories: Businesses and Schools; Individuals under 18; and Individuals ages 18 and up. Judging will take place Saturday from 10-12 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend and vote for his or her favorite entries during this time. Awards will presented at 12:15 pm and the eating of the books will take place after the awards are presented. Bronze, silver, and gold forks will be awarded to the winners in each category.
