Minutes of April 28, 2005

Present: Pat Adams, Donna Bunker, Ken Curley, Lucy Edwards

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m.

OLD BUSINESS:   The committee discussed the cable coordinator position.  Joseph Harris accepted the position but never went to town hall to fill out the required paperwork.  Mr. Harris has not responded to any messages left for him.  The cable committee will advertise the position again.

NEW BUSINESS:  Lucy explained the history of the cable advisory committee to Pat Adams.  Pat is interested in joining the cable advisory committee.  She will submit her name to the Board of Selectmen.

Ken Curley will meet with the Northwood School Board to discuss the possibility of them using their own coordinator to tape school board meetings.

Ken will submit the tapes of the school district meeting and the town meeting for broadcast during the summer.   The committee hopes that will give summer residents the opportunity to see the meetings on the cable channel.   Ken will also give copies of the meetings to the library and Donna will do a summer display.

Donna will draft a publicity blurb asking residents to submit their own tapes for broadcast and will submit the blurb to the committee for revision before advertising.  We might need a performance waiver depending on what the tape contains.  For example, if we taped a library storytime we would need a waiver from the children’s librarian stating that she gives permission to air the recording on public access television.

Donna will email the final copies of all cable advisory committee minutes to Lucy for submission to the town website.

We reviewed the memo from town hall appointing Lucy Edwards as the selectmen’s liaison to the cable advisory committee.

The next meeting will be held at the Chesley Memorial Library on Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.

Minutes approved June 16, 2005.
