Minutes of February 10, 2010

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Renee Camille at 7:05 pm.

Present were Renee and Ken Camille, Ken Curley, Peter Blinn and Cable Coordinator Gary Garnett.

Minutes of the January 5th meeting were approved.

REPORTS

Board of Selectmen liaison: No report.

Lake Region Public Access: Ken Curley said he was not able to attend the Board of Directors meeting.

Cable Coordinator:

Northwood Meadow State Park – Gary showed the committee a new DVD he produced combining the Northwood Meadows State Park Tour with Discovery Day footage. Using lightscribe he had labeled the DVD with a picture of Ed Burtt standing next to a rock shaped like the state of New Hampshire.  He said members of Northwood Area Land Management Cooperative (NALMC) had asked him if they could sell copies of the DVD to raise funds for their committee. Ken Curley said that since the Town of Northwood owns the copyright the Board of Selectman would need to authorize the selling of the DVD.

School Board meeting sound quality – Gary said he is now adding the disclaimer to the beginning and end of the school board meeting shows.

Budget Committee Meetings –The Budget Committee public sessions were recorded along with a portion of the work sessions. They are currently being aired.

More Meetings – Gary said he received an email from the School Board Chairman requesting that the SAU #44 meetings be broadcast.  He also received a request to broadcast the Planning Board meetings. Gary estimated that it would take 10 hours to record and produce each meeting.

Ken Curley motioned second by Renee, To recommend that the Board of Selectmen increase the work schedule of the Cable Coordinator by 20 hours per month for the purpose of recording and producing the monthly SAU #44 and Planning Board meetings.

OLD BUSINESS

Video Workshop – Gary said he talked with the Town Administrator about holding the next workshop at Town Hall. He indicated there would be no problem and to talk to Marcia about placing it on the schedule. The committee discussed details about the content and format of the workshop.  It was agreed that there should be a series of comprehensive workshops covering all aspects of video production such as lighting, framing, storyboarding, editing and final production.

Sporting Events – Peter suggested we plan on covering one team at Coe Brown Northwood Academy to develop student interest.  It would require a commentator, and he would be willing to contact students attending UNH majoring in journalism to volunteer.

NEW BUSINESS

Snowmobile Races – Gary spent last Saturday recording the snowmobile races.
Fishing Derby – Peter talked with Gary about equipment needed to record the Fishing Derby being held on Saturday at Harvey Lake.

Next meeting is scheduled for 7pm March 2, 2010 at the Community Center.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20pm.

Respectfully submitted,
  Ken Curley

Approved March 2, 2010.
