Minutes of 09/16/09

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by the Bill Tappan, chairman.

Roll call was taken and the attendees were Kevin Ash, Ken Curley, Bob Holden, and Bill Tappan.  Bob Young arrived at 7:10pm.

Meeting minutes were not reviewed because they were not prepared (Lucy Edwards is sorely missed).  Mr. Tappan assured the group the minutes would be ready for review at the next meeting.

Kevin Ash reviewed the feedback provided by Jim Vaillancourt the recycling committee chairman.  Jim’s comments were extensive, thoughtful and helpful.  Discussion ensued about his points and Kevin is to follow up with Jim about a few comments that were unclear to the committee.  The committee also discussed having a public section for comments which developed into a conversation on policies on responding to citizen inquiries either through a website or emails.  Mr. Ash suggested the committee extend an invitation to the Town Administrator and Linda Smith to get their ideas on the topic.  Mr. Tappan is to invite them to the October committee meeting.  There was also discussion about ensuring that someone at the town hall be tasked with managing the website as part of their normal duties.  This is something that would ultimately be decided by the selectmen and town administrator.

The committee also agreed to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that all town board chairpersons get email addresses assigned by the town.

The miscellaneous topic raised was the low power radio station and it was agreed that the item would be tabled for a while.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
   Bill Tappan
